2007-2006 SDS MDS promotions and marketing

While there is tons of worth while reading going on in the SDS MDS boards, there is one thing that is hugely lacking.
I have found no evidence of a common promotional machine. There seems to be no ads in magazines or newspapers.

As a child I remember the SDS was heavy on national publicity, as the weathermen became news worthy.
There are weekly newspapers like the Chicago Reader, The Scene in Cleveland, NUVO in Indianapolis, Village Voice in NY etc... These magazines need WEEKLY ads for membership drives. The more people whom join, the stronger the sds becomes.

I find it amazing on how many people when I mention the SDS say, "Oh yeah the old time student peace movement from the Hippie and Yippi days. What ever happened to them?"

The lack knowledge of the very exsitance of the organization is astounding. This knowledge will have to come from the weekly newspapers. Also I believe that SDS t-shirts should be donated to EVERY BAND that goes on national tours. We should send T-shirt vendors out with material across the country. Hell 1 mention by THE DAILY SHOW would perk up membership drives 10 fold. AND, have SOUTH PARK do an episode on it. They are good people.

Their needs to be a PUBLICIST in every region doing DAILY mail outs and press releases to ALL the LOCAL media. (FOX included)

Money earmarked for an awareness campaign on a regular basis would help.
I am sure local bands would play to help raise money for such a thing. Peace loving churchs are another good avenue.

SDS MDS needs unified Promtions, Marketing and Publicits.
